以重读闭音节结尾，且末尾只有一个辅音字母的，则双写最后一个辅音字母，再加-er变为比较级，加 –est 变为最高级。如：

重读闭音节三要素
1 必须是重读音节；
2 最后只有一个辅音字母；
3元音字母发短元音
short的元音字母发长元音，不是重读闭音节，所以不必双写最后一个辅音字母，再加-er变为比较级，加 –est 变为最高级
