端午节是我过传统节日，每到这一天，家家户户都要吃粽子、划龙舟、插艾叶……
据说，端午节是为了纪念按我国古代诗人屈原而定的，已经有两千多年历史了
关于这个节日，还有一个美丽的传说：屈原是战国时期有名的诗人，他忠诚爱国，让楚国渐渐强盛起来。但在朝中，有些权贵对他的意见不满，经常在楚王面前说他的坏话，楚王也相信了那些权贵的谗言，渐渐离屈原越来越疏远。虽然楚王那时已不相信屈原了，但他仍然放弃：关注人民，写了许多爱国诗。
后来楚王中秦王的圈套，被软禁在了秦国。又派兵攻打楚国的首都。屈原知道后，悲愤万分，就在五月初五那天，抱着石头投河自尽了。
楚国的百姓知道后，悲痛万分。他们想尽办法救屈原，曾几次驾小船去打捞他的尸体，但还是没捞到。于是人们怕屈原在下面吃不饱，又把许多美食投进河里，还把一种外面用竹叶包着大米，还用红线绕着它。人们把它称为粽子。
如今啊！，虽然我们不会再把食物投进河里了。但依然有许多风俗流传至今。端午节真是一个有意义的节日。
